Gary Setzer & Dan Majka, The Corridor Procession, 2025.
The Corridor Procession, is a single-channel iteration of components from Setzer & Majka’s 2021 Venice Biennale of Architecture installation, The Corridor: Climate Change, Border Permeability, and Ecosystem Resilience. The 17th Venice Biennale of Architecture, was curated by Hashim Sarkis.
Marrying the visual arts with science, Setzer collaborated with Dan Majka—a conservation scientist and technologist for the Nature Conservancy. Channeling the Biennale exhibition’s theme—How Will We Live Together?—the installation centered on how human development impacts climate change-induced animal migration. The floor plan of the installation facilitated a symbolic passage for the viewer—their movement through the work paralleled that of the directed movement of animals across an animal land bridge, also known as a wildlife corridor. Moving through the corridor alongside these larger-than-life animals situated the viewer in the throes of the animals’ tenuous migration experience.
